Adsense Tutorial
Logging into your Google Adsense Account
The first thing you want to do is log into your Adsense account.
After you do that, you'll see an option at the top of the page that says "Adsense Setup." You
want to click on that tab.
This will bring you to a page that will give you three setup options, search, content and
referral. It really doesn't matter which one you do first because we're going to do all three. Let's start with
content first.
Click on that option.
Creating & customizing your Google Adsense
This will bring you to another page. On this page you will be given the choice of what kind of
ad unit you want to create. You have the choice of and Ad Unit or a Link Unit. An Ad Unit is an actual ad such as,
"Natural Acne Cure." A link unit will show a category that when clicked on will bring you to the ad itself. You can
have up to three ad units and one link unit on each page. So you're going to want to do just that, create three ad
units and one link unit.
Before we continue to the actual creation, this is where we need to point out something very
important. Each ad unit and link unit can have a very distinct look. In other words, you can customize them to fit
both the size and color scheme of your page. That is why before you even do this it is critical that you make a
note of just how your page is laid out and what colors are used. The reason is because you want the Adsense ads to
blend in with your page. This will make it more likely that visitors will click on these ads.
Okay, back to the actual creation of the code. Choose the Ad Unit option and leave the default
in place. Then click on the continue button at the bottom of the page. This will bring you to a page where you are
given the choice of the size of your ad as well as the color. The sizes are numerous, from huge leaderboards to
small buttons. This is where you need to have a firm grasp on the layout of your page so you can pick a layout that
will fit best. After you choose your layout and color, click continue to go to the next page.
On the next page will be the actual code for your Adsense ad. Simply copy it and paste it into
your web page code. If you're not too familiar with HTML, there are numerous tutorials online.
Teaching HTML is beyond the scope of this article. After you have done this, simply repeat the
process for each ad unit and your link unit. The link unit has slightly different options but the process is
essentially the same.
In our next installment of "Making Sense Of Adsense" we'll pick up where we left off. See you
then.
